Chinese telecommunication company Huawei is also set to get competition from its Indian contemporary Reliance. Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited led by Asia’s second richest man Mukesh Ambani is planning to come up with its own 5G network. There are reports that Reliance has developed a 5G end-to-end system, which result into reduction of its dependency of foreign vendors.
Report further states that the company has already replaced 4G network system, which was manufactured by Nokia and Oracle and was instrumental in their 4G voice services. Another report by Economic times stated that Reliance is confident about its recent development as they plan to integrate their local cloud program and thus resulting in to self-sufficiency regarding 5G network.
After 5G trials are successful, Reliance Jio will start manufacturing the hardware in India itself and this will definitely boost the ‘Make in India’ initiative by Government of India. Along with its use in Jio’s broadband and voice network, this technology will also be utilized in drones for the purpose of security and surveillance and also can be fruitful in digitalisation of Agriculture sector.
Reliance Jio has already made a presentation to the Depart of Telecommunications (DoT) and have got green signal in order to conduct 5G trials. The company had earlier applied to conduct similar trials via partnerships with foreign vendors like Huawei, Nokia and Samsung.
Huawei will be impacted the most as they were among prime vendors of telecom gears. The news of Reliance’s own 5G network creates an atmosphere of competition in the giants related to field of Telecommunication.
